Australopithecus afarensis A.L. 129 1a and 1b Knee Joint
KO-392-KJ $170.00

3.4 MYA. Discovered in Hadar, Ethiopia by Johanson in 1973, this knee joint was the first of many hominin bones found at this site. The two bones clearly appear to be from the same individual. The angle of the femoral shaft heading to the pelvis, the shape of the lateral condyle of the femur, and the raised patellar notch on the femur provide evidence that the bones belonged to a bipedal individual.
