Sabertooth Cat, Eusmilus sicarius Skull CB-07 Sabertooth Cat Eusmilus sicarius Skull (Sinclair & Jepsen 1927). Occurence Mid-Whitneyan to early Arikareean (30,5-28.5 MYBP), South Dakota. One of the smaller Nimravids of the Oligocene, this species is noted for its very long, compressed sabers. It is an excellent example of a dirk-tooth saber cat. This specimen's deciduous sabers are in place and the permanent sabers erupting. We are grateful to the Babiarz Institute of Paleontological Studies for the opportunity to cast this individual.
