Flamingo Skull BC-306 The Flamingo is found in the shallow waters of Florida, the Caribbean, northern South America and the Galapagos Islands. Relative to the size of its body, the Flamingo has the longest legs and neck of all birds. Its unusual bill and its tongue are equipped with bristles that allow it to strain small bits of food from water while the bill is held submerged. Its vivid pink color arises from the carotenoid pigments manufactured by the algae and invertebrates the Flamingo feeds upon. If a different diet is fed a Flamingo in captivity, its color is much more muted. Flamingo Skull and Neck BC-306-N |
