More About The Bone Clones® Economy Series Females are known as does and can weigh between 90 and 200 pounds. Their coat is tan or brown in the summer and grayish brown in the winter. They have white on their throat, around their eyes and nose as well as their lower abdomen and the ventral surface of the tail (which gives them their common name). They wave their tail conspicuously from side to side when startled, which also serves as a flag for the fawns to follow when running from danger. They are able to bound up to 40 mph even through dense forest and are good swimmers readily entering water to escape predators. Their large eyes and ears provide them with excellent vision and hearing, but they rely primarily on their sense of smell for communication and to warn them of danger. They have numerous scent glands on their legs they use to communicate with one another. Does are generally solitary except when they have fawns, during which time they gather in small groups. | ||
