Warthog Skull BC-041 This amazing Warthog skull holds the world record for the largest warthog tusks, which give the skull an almost sculptural appearance. As the name suggests, Warthogs are members of the porcine or pig family and live on the open plains of Southern Africa. The large warts on the male's head and face, which motivates its common name, are actually cartilaginous bumps of tissue that protect the face and eyes from injury during fights with other male warthogs. They are mostly hairless except for a long bristly mane that runs along their dorsum. Tusks are available separately below. |

Warthog Tusks KO-224-4 The beautifully curved upper tusks are over 20 inches long. The Warthog's sharp lower canines are continually honed by contact with the upper canines. Mature males are 3 to 4 feet long, stand 2.5 foot high at the shoulder, and may weigh 250 pounds. Capable of fierce fighting, they can also run, tail held erect, at over 30 mph. |
